Spotted Hyena, Maasai Mara, East Africa
With full bellies these cheetah search the savanna for a place to rest. Maasai Mara, East Africa.
Bat-eared Foxes outside their den site in the Maasai Mara.
East Africa in the rainy season is not for the weak of heart. The rain is very heavy, and you are stuck frequently. The grass is high and unless you know what your looking for, you may never find it. From sun up to sun down everyday we studied the foxes. I would not be satisfied until I knew, what they did, and how they did it. I have plenty of patience but they taught me to have even more. All my time spent in East Africa was with an absolute obsession over them. The photographs came hard, very hard. I have never enjoyed my time in Africa so much as I did with them.
Black-backed Jackal, Maasai Mara, East Africa
Mornings in the Maasai Mara are the essence of Africa. The animals have just begun to stir and the light is just lifting off the savanna. The Mara is like no place I have ever seen before. Morning here is like nothing you can experience any place else on earth. Africa stands still and takes a giant breath. When I am here, I am in Africa.
