Ajabu, the DSWT Nairobi Nursery's youngest orphaned elephant has been thriving with her human Keepers and the rest of the orphaned elephant family since her arrival on the 4th April 2013.
3rd April 2013 saw three of our Nursery girls, Sities, Kainuk and Turkwel graduate from the Nairobi Nursery to the DSWT's reintegration centre at Ithumba. This next stage in their journey will now witness them mixing with wild elephants, as they take a step closer to a life back in the wild.
DSWT is called into action to rescue an orphaned elephant calf in Tsavo, Kenya. Early on Thursday 4th April a tiny female elephant calf was spotted by tour operators in Tsavo East National Park about three kilometres from Msinga Hill and the DSWT's Voi elephant stockades.

A year after Jasiri's birth tragedy struck during Christmas 2012, when the Amboseli Trust for Elephants found his mother Jemima's carcass, suspected to have been shot by poachers, although her tusks were found intact. Jemima's daughter Jalila and her grand-daughter, Jasiri's age mate, were also missing from the scene whilst there was no trace of her son Jasiri.
